Japan approved Tuesday a plan to dispatch a Ground Self-Defense Force engineering unit to South Sudan to join UN peacekeeping operations and help build infrastructure there. Japan\'\'s Defense Minister Yasuo Ichikawa will shortly issue an order to the Self-Defense Forces to prepare for the mission, Japanese (Kyodo) News Agency reported. Under the government\'\'s plan, GSDF personnel will operate in South Sudan over a five-year period, with work to construct roads and bridges in the nation\'\'s capital Juba and its vicinity to start from April before the rainy season starts.
