Paolo Corsini, the deputy head of the foreign relations committee at the Italian Senate

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen on developing cooperation with Italy, Paolo Corsini, the deputy head of the foreign relations committee at the Italian Senate said on Thursday.

In press statements while accompanying the Egyptian popular diplomatic delegation on a visit to the Italian Senate, the senator said Sisi is fully aware of the deeply-rooted relations binding the two countries and of the importance of enhancing them.

The senator hoped that the murder case of Italian student Giulio Regeni in Egypt would be settled through cooperation between the two sides' investigations authorities and that any confusion in this regard would be removed.

Regeni's body was found on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road on February 3, nine days after he disappeared.

The senator underlined the importance of furthering Egyptian-Italian relations in all domains to serve the two peoples' interests.

The Egyptian delegation is led by head of the Independence Current Party Ahmed Fadali.
