A large group of Israeli settlers stormed the al-Nabi Younis mosque in the town of Halhul, north of Hebron in the West Bank, on Tuesday and performed Jewish Talmudic prayers. Confrontations erupted between Palestinian youths and the settlers in the mosque under the protection of the Israeli forces, who later closed the area and conducted widespread combing operation searching for the youths. The old mosque contains a grave attributed to the prophet Younis as Palestinians consider it one of their holy places.
