Iran\'s Permanent Ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hamid-Reza Dehqani urged the OIC to support popular uprisings in the region. On the passive and weak acts by the OIC in providing support to the popular uprisings in the Islamic world, Dehqani stressed that the organization should take a balanced stance in this regard while avoiding any interference in the internal affairs of the regional states. Dehqani asserted that the OIC should support the regional freedom-seeking nations and block any kinds of military meddling in their affairs. The OIC is an international organization consisting of 57 Muslim member states. According to its constitution, the organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims.
