Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is planned to fly to Tajikistan on Wednesday, Iran’s ambassador to Dushanbe said Tuesday. Ali Asghar Sherdoost told IRNA that Salehi’s two-day visit to Tajikistan will pursue economic objectives. Iran’s foreign minister is due to hold meetings with his Tajik counterpart Khamrokhon Zarifi and President Imomali Rakhmon on the latest developments in bilateral cooperation, said the ambassador. The two are also to fix a time for launching the second turbine of the Sangtoudeh II power plant, said the envoy. He further termed Tehran-Dushanbe relations as cordial, saying the two countries enjoy the highest level of bilateral cooperation. Sherdoost announced that Iran and Tajikistan have so far signed 163 agreements on mutual cooperation in various fields.
