The International Organization for Migration

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said that nearly 185,000 migrants and refugees have arrived in Europe via the Mediterranean in 2016, said a statement on Friday.

According to its data, 184,887 migrants and refugees arrived in Europe by sea in the period from January to May 6, 2016.

Since the beginning of the year, 155,090 people arrived in Greece, 28,706 in Italy, 1,603 in Spain and 28 in Cyprus.

The total of 1,357 people died or went missing in their attempt to reach the European countries.
