Bahrain and India are at this time in the best level of cooperation in the area of diplomacy, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Ghanem Al Buainain said. His counterpart, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Republic of India, E Ahmed, assured him that India supported Bahrain at international events, such as the Human Rights Conference in Geneva, the International Labour Organisation in Geneva and the UN Security Council session in New York. “There is a cordial relation and the cooperation and coordination between the two countries and the mutual support for each is at a very respectable level, he added. Going forward, I am optimistic,” said Al Buainain. “We are talking about ties between two countries that have had relations spanning over a 100 years.” India and Bahrain have much in common in most all areas such as culture, economy and social norms, the minister said. “We can almost say that we are one people in two countries. I hope that the next visit to India will be at a much higher level than the ministerial level,” he told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Commenting on his visit to India, the minister said that it was very cordial and said that he felt at home with the warmth and hospitality extended by the people of India. The Indian minister said that there existed opportunities for another high level visit to India and that both Bahrain and India looked towards consolidating their warm and friendly relations. He praised the rulers of Bahrain for the hospitality and the freedoms enjoyed by the over 350,000 strong Indian community living in the kingdom. The Bahrain India exhibition being hosted by Bahrain would pave the way for more investment flow from India to Bahrain, he said. Past President of the Confederation of Indian Industry and Vice –chairman of the Sanmar Group told BNA that the Kingdom of Bahrain was a very hospitable country and the investment flow to this country would be much enhanced after this exhibition and conference. “Bahrain and the prospects it has for trade is not known to many. There are yawning gaps in information about this country. These will be filled with the successful completion of this event,” he added.
