Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has praised cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the fields of energy, transport, education and water processing.

Orbán, who is currently visiting here, said his visit to Egypt reflects his appreciation of the big role played by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to achieve stability in the region and Europe.

Sisi's success plays into the hands of Europe and Hungary, Orbán said Wednesday, pointing to an old friendship between the two countries.

Orbán also extended condolences to the Egyptian government and people for victims of EgyptAir Flight MS804, which crashed into the Mediterranean on May 19.

He said cooperation with Egypt is important in promoting security, fighting terrorism and achieving economic development.

Orbán said Libya's stability is a pivotal issue to Hungary and the European Union, noting that Budapest and Cairo will work together to support a unified government in Libya and stop financial and arms supplies to extremist groups there.

Trade exchange between Hungary and Egypt should double in the coming stage, Orbán said after his meeting with Sisi, adding that he is accompanied by representatives of more than 70 Hungarian companies wishing to discuss investment opportunities here.

Orbán hailed as "very constructive" his talks with Sisi.
