Germany has summoned the Egyptian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry in protest over Wednesday’s bloodshed in Cairo. Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, who is currently on a visit to Tunisia, said the German government would emphasize that the bloodshed in Egypt had to end, German Press Agency dpa reported. “I condemn the use of force in the evacuation of the squares yesterday in Egypt with great emphasis,” Westerwelle said. “There must be no spiral in the escalation of violence.” Italy and France also summoned the Egyptian ambassadors Thursday in an apparently coordinated response by European governments.
