Defense ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) convened here Wednesday with visiting US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, with the participation of GCC Secretary General Abdul Latif al Zayani.
The meeting is being held amid various challenges facing the world, a top which are terrorism, some countries' instability, besides Iran's interference into Arab affairs, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said, adding that that talks aim to overcome such challenges through cementing partnership between the GCC and US.
For his part, Carter expressed appreciation for the partnership and mutual keenness on boosting cooperation in fighting terrorism and seeking the stability of the region.
Meanwhile, GCC secretary general expressed both sides' keenness on continuing boosting cooperation in various domains, underscoring the importance of defense cooperation between the GCC and US in light of security and terror threats facing the region.
