A Gaza militant was injured in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces near the northern border of the Palestinian enclave, local security sources said Wednesday. The militant was wounded in the legs when the Israeli troops fired on gunmen at an observation point east of the Palestinian town of Jabaliya, the sources said. There has been no immediate comment from Israel on the incident. Israel used to keep a 300-meter-deep buffer zone beyond its border fence with Gaza. Although the Jewish country annulled the no-go zone as part of a ceasefire that ended an eight-day conflict last November, it remains dangerous for Palestinians to approach the fence.
