Speaker of the French Senate Gerard Larcher lauded on Wednesday the latest economic measures taken by the Egyptian government, saying they will have positive impact on the influx of foreign investments to Egypt.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his Cairo visit that began two days ago, he said his talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Sherif Ismail showed the government's interest to mitigate the social effects resulting from these measures.

He added that his visit to Egypt aims at strengthening Egyptian-French parliamentary relations. 

Asked whether there is a disagreement between Cairo and Paris on the Syrian crisis, Larcher denied there is any disagreement in this regard, saying the two sides agree on the importance of preserving the integrity and independence of the Syrian lands.

But he stressed that no solution can be reached to the Syrian crisis as long as President Bashar Assad is in power.

He also lauded Egypt's diplomatic efforts to resume Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, saying he will visit Israel in January to revive these efforts.
