Cairo - Arab Today
The Foreign Ministry is launching a campaign to mark the UN Day, which falls on October 24 of each year.
The day saw the UN Convention go into force in 1945.
The campaign is launched on the official websites of the Ministry and its accounts on facebook and twitter, said spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid, adding that is available in Arabic and English.
The campaign is meant to shed light on Egypt's role in the founding of the international organization and outlining its convention in 1945, Abu Zeid said.
It also underscores important international resolutions about Egypt, he added.
Egypt's contribution to peacekeeping operations and its role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in protecting Arab and African interests and fighting terrorism are also highlighted, Abu Zeid made it clear.
An editorial by the foreign minister about Egypt's vision to reform the UN will also be posted, the spokesman further said.
