Egyptian Vice President Dr. Mohamed Elbaradei has received a telephone call from US Secretary of State John Kerry and spoke over the phone with European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton. A presidency statement said the two contacts dealt with the situation in Egypt, adding that Elbradei underlined his country’s commitment to the renunciation of violence and the need to reach a peaceful solution to the current crisis. The statement added that Ashton will start this evening a visit during which she will meet with interim President Adli Mansour, Dr. Elbradei and other officials as well as representatives of the political powers to discuss the situation and developments in the Egyptian political arena. It said Egyptian officials will explain the situation with regard to preparations for the next phase to restore stability and security in Egypt and re-track the country towards democracy from which it deviated over the past months in the context of the future roadmap announced on the third of July.
