Egyptian security forces incarcerated 48 people suspected to be involved in the events of Kerdasa in Giza, an Egyptian Interior Ministry source said Thursday. The source said that three of the 48 were allegedly members of the main suspects in the massacre that took place in the Kerdasa police station. Some five police officers and four soldiers were injured as a result of the explosion of a hand grenade. One of the 48 arrested allegedly threw the hand grenade and police found with him a machine gun and seven hand grenades. Egyptian police and army began a wide-ranging operation in Kerdasa after the Prosecutor-General ordered the capture a number of armed criminals who were involved in the Kerdasa massacre. Militants had stormed the Kerdasa police station and killed 11 police officers and one civilian.
