Amid the fifth week of UN disarmament conference sessions that kicked off here earlier in February, Egypt called Tuesday for carrying out immediately the necessary efforts towards creating a Nuclear-Weapon-Free World; thus instantly constituting agreements capable of achieving such a goal. Egypt\'\'s Permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva ambassador Hisham Badr in his capacity as Chairman of the conference pointed out in a statement he delivered before the conference today that many key steps are to be taken in consideration in order to reach a Nuclear-Weapon-Free World. Among these steps would be completing the Fissile Materials Convention,or the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), or Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT), executing the negative security guarantees, and halting the arms race in the outer space, Badr told the conferees. It is worth to note that the UN disarmament conference was established in 1961 as the single multilateral disarmament negotiating forum of the international community concerning disarmament issues around the world. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), a significant issue for the disarmament and arms control community has been the continued production of fissile materials. This treaty is commonly known as a Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT). Since then, the immediate commencement and early conclusion of FMCT negotiations in the CD has been endorsed by all states party to the NPT at the 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 NPT Review Conferences. The Fissile Materials Working Group (FMWG), is a nongovernmental coalition of over 40 U.S. experts representing many of the top nonproliferation and nuclear security organizations in the country and also includes several international partner organizations.
