The Dutch parliament decided Tuesday to deny permission for an 18-year-old Angolan asylum seeker to stay in the country. The parliament voted against two motions that were proposed by the opposition parties during the final debate on whether Mauro Manuel should be given the right to stay. Dutch media have reported the case for more than a week, as it symbolizes 75 similar cases of children fighting the battle for a permanent visa in the country. Mauro was put on a plane by his mother eight years ago because she was worried about the future of her son in war-torn Angola. Mauro was taken in by a family in the southern Dutch province of Limburg after he arrived in the Netherlands.
