The President of Cyprus\' visit to Kuwait on October 8 would be historic and important in the process of relations between the two countries, Kuwaiti Ambassador Ahmed Al-Wuhaib said on Tuesday. After meeting President Nicos Anastasiades, the Kuwaiti ambassador to Cyprus said that the visit would be a culmination of bilateral relations developed during the past period, particularly since Cyprus joined the European Union and the opening of embassies for both countries. The visit will witness talks to strengthen ties in various fields, especially at the economic and investment levels, as well as discussing regional issues of common interest to achieve security and stability in the region during the recent events in the Middle East, he added. Al-Wuhaib said that signing a number of agreements to enhance cooperation between the two countries, the investment of possibilities and opportunities available, and the establishment of new investment projects and partnerships between businessmen are expected to be achieved in this visit, where a joint economic forum is also scheduled to be held. Steps taken by the current Cypriot government to restore confidence to the Cypriot economy and foreign investors, where praised by the Kuwaiti envoy, who pointed out that Cyprus is working on the application of a reform package of measures aimed at eliminating any obstacles to investment in Cyprus. He said that the Cypriot economy, in spite of the difficulties it is experiencing, is faced with many factors that will help its economic and banking sectors regain strength during a short period of time. Meanwhile, he delivered to the Cypriot president the congratulations of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Al-Sabah on the occasion of the country\'s Independence Day, wishing the leaqder further progress and his friendly country prosperity.
