This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Commonwealth of Independent States, or CIS, following the fall of the USSR. Leaders of the 11-nation bloc have met in Tajikistan to review their achievements over the past 20 years and draw-up a blueprint for the future. A statement was issued after the meeting pledging to form a free trade zone and peacefully resolve conflicts in post-Soviet countries. Members also agreed to continue cooperating in the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking. Next year\'s summit will be held in Turkmenistan.
