The fourth round of China-Germany intergovernmental consultation kicked off in Beijing Monday, co-chaired by Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Several Chinese cabinet ministers, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and four other ministers from the German delegation attended the meeting, opened by the Chinese Premier.
The meetings happen every two years. This year's was expected to focus on global security hotspots, bilateral trade relations, China's potential classification as a market economy, and Beijing's recent clampdown on legislation governing non-governmental organizations.
Merkel arrived in Beijing Sunday on three-day visit.
