Tel Aviv - Itar-Tass
A centre of global jihad is being formed in Syria and it will influence the situation in the entire region, chief of Israel’s military intelligence Aviv Kohavi warned on Tuesday. “Before our eyes, a centre of global jihad is being formed on out doorsteps, and it will influence the situation not only in Syria but also in Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, on the Sinai Peninsula, and in the entire region,” he said. According to Kohavi, thousands of radically-minded mujahideen are coming to Syria from the region and from the entire world, and their goal is not only to overthrow President Bashar Assad but to push the idea of an Islamic state. The situation in Syria, in his words, arouses the most serious worries.
