About 1,000 people were evacuated from the Vaernes airport serving the central coastal Norwegian city of Trondheim and its surrounding area on Monday morning after a bomb threat was received by authorities. A sniff dog from Oerland was searching the arrival and departure hall while another sniff dog was on its way from Oslo to Trondheim to join in the search operation. Police were on the hunt for the suspect who spoke a local dialect, the Norwegian news agency NTB reported. Shortly before 10 a.m. (0800 GMT), a man called in the Troendelag dialect, saying that a bomb has been placed in the hall for both arrival and departure. All air traffic to and fra the airport came to a halt, affecting about 5,000 passengers.
