Human Rights Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman received Russian Ambassador to Bahrain Victor Smirnov. He underscored decade-long solid relations of friendship between Bahrain and Russia, lauding Russia\'s stance regarding the ongoing reform steps spearheaded by His Majesty the King. He stressed the need to exchange expertise in the human rights field so as to boost administrative capabilities and national experiences. He pointed out his recent meeting with Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to Geneva Ambassador Alexey Borodavkin, on the sidelines of a high-profile meeting of the 22nd session of the Human Rights Council, during which human rights issues and availing of the Russian experience in this respect were discussed. The Human Rights Minister affirmed that Bahrain has made big strides in the human rights field through a set of governmental and legislative procedures to protect human rights and freedoms, develop the constitutional institutions and promote democratic values. He said the language of human rights has become universal, a contemporary language and a noble human message that has to be present permanently in order to boost the human rights culture. He also expressed regret over the existence of some figures and parties that are doing harm to this human message and their countries. On his part, the Russian ambassador commended the meeting, describing it as an opportunity to exchange experiences and lauding Bahrain\'s recent human rights developments. He also stressed Russia\'s support to the National Consensus Dialogue in Bahrain, wishing it success in achieving the aspirations of the Bahraini people.
