Anti-human trafficking efforts reviewed

Chief Executive of Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee, Osama bin Abdullah Al-Absi, today received a Thai government delegation concerned with human trafficking.
The two sides discussed cooperation to raise awareness of labour rights, laws and regulations related to human trafficking. They agreed to develop a mechanism for the exchange of information to enhance anti-trafficking efforts and prevent the exploitation of Thai labour in the same activities. 

The Thai delegation praised Bahrain's efforts in combating human trafficking and protecting expat labour. 

LMRA CEO reviewed Bahrain's supportive measures to address trafficking in persons phenomena. He gave an overview of the objectives of the expatriate labour shelter center aimed at providing services for expat victims of human trafficking, which is the first of its kind in the Gulf, that is equipped with a communication center to receive labour complaints around the clock in several languages.
