An armed group based in libya\'s central city of Misrata, which fought Libya\'s ex-leader Muammar Gaddafi over the past months, voluntarily dissolved Wednesday and surrendered weapons to the authorities, a Misrata military council source said. The group, literally called \"the Red Alliance Brigade\", had submitted its request for voluntary dismissal to the ruling National Transitional Council (NTC), the source said on condition of anonymity. The group, which had some 600 members, participated in the battles for Tripoli and other cities in the country, the source told Xinhua. It is learnt that other armed groups allied with the NTC would also surrender their weapons to the authorities in the upcoming days. The NTC has said all armed people must surrender their weapons. The council on Sunday declared Libya liberated from Gaddafi\'s 42-year rule. In another development, a Red Cross source in Libya said on Wednesday that the bodies of 267 people, mostly believed to be Gaddafi supporters, have been found in Gaddafi\'s hometown Sirte. The Libyan authorities reportedly have counted and registered the bodies before they were buried in mass graves near Sirte. The NTC has pledged to investigate the deaths and bring the killers to justice.
