A junior partner of the incoming Albanian ruling coalition government has called on the outgoing centre-right government to fulfill its constitutional obligations and protect the lives of its citizens until the last day of its term in office.
During a news conference at the party\'s headquarters, SMI vice chairman Petrit Vasili voiced concerns over what he called a deteriorating security situation following a growing number of crimes, murders, assaults, and other criminal offences in the capital city of Tirana over the past days.
\"The recent anomaly and growing number of violent crimes are a reason for concern. Such situation is a clear evidence of the failure by the government or relevant ministry to fulfill its duties,\" Vasili told reporters.
He said that the outgoing government should meet its constitutional obligations until the last day of its term in office.
The Socialist Party-led left-wing coalition Alliance of the European Albania won 83 seats in the June 23 parliamentary elections, while the Democratic Party-led right-wing coalition Alliance for Employment, Welfare and Integration got 57 mandates.
