A member of the Afghan national army (ANA) who was involved in an insider attack that left three Australian soldiers dead, has been arrested in Pakistan. The Afghan soldier, Sergeant Hematullah opened fire on Australian troops at a patrol base in southern Urugan province of Afghanistan last year, leaving three service members dead and two others injured, according to Afghan (Khaama Press). Australian\'s chief of defense forces, David Hurley on Wednesday announced that the Afghan soldier was arrested in Pakistan in February this year. General Hurley told reporters in Canberra, \"We not expect him to stand trial for murder.\" He praised the authorities involved in capturing the accused man. The rogue Afghan soldier could potentially be sentenced to death if convicted. He was arrested following close cooperation between Australian spies and special-forces troops, along with the Pakistan and Afghanistan security agencies.
