Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas will hand over a formal application for the state of Palestine to be granted full UN membership on Friday at 1535 GMT, a top Palestinian official said. Palestinian envoy to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed to AFP late Thursday that Abbas would hand over the letter at a meeting planned with UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Friday morning.
