A total of 61 people were injured, two of them suffering severe burns, as a gasbomb exploded on Thursday evening at a fireworks show in Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan. The accident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. local time by the Yura River in Fukuchiyama City of the prefecture when a fireworks show was being held. The local firefighter department said the injured were taken to nearby hospitals and two of them were in serious conditions. The show, organized by the local chamber of commerce, was canceled due to the accident and police investigation is underway. About 6,000 fireworks were scheduled to be displayed during the 90- minute festival. According to local media, the show is an amazing annual event for local people. It attracted some 110,000 spectators last year.
