Military Spokesman Mohamed Samir said that the third illegal immigration attempt to Europe in the past 24 hours was foiled.
In a statement on Monday, the military spokesman said that 179 illegal immigrants from Egypt, Sudan, the Comoro Islands, Eritrea, Guinea and Ghana were arrested off Alexandria coast.
The Egyptian naval forces will continue efforts to secure the country's coasts, the spokesman underlined.
The arrested migrants were taken to the naval base at Ras el Tin, he added.
