The Georgian central electoral commission (CEC) said Monday that it had so far registered 23 candidates for the Oct. 27 presidential election. Sept. 27 has been set as the deadline for submitting candidacy applications with the CEC. Ten of the 23 registered presidential candidates were nominated by political groups of the country, while 13 were nominated by initiative groups, according to the CEC. Meanwhile, the CEC registered 37 domestic, 23 international and 18 media monitoring organizations.
