Tens of thousands of Yemenis took to the streets on Sunday afternoon in the capital in a march condemning Israel’s aggression on Gaza. Protesters chanted in honour of the Palestinian resistance, urging the international community to intervene to put an end to the “brutal aggression” that they said targeted the women and children of Gaza. Participants in the mass demonstration, which was coordinated by the Yemeni Youth Popular Revolution, demanded that the Yemeni government take a more proactive approach to end the conflict. They specifically called for such measures as accepting aid to help the residents of the Gaza Strip. A number of Yemeni cities and provinces also witnessed mass demonstrations in protest against Israel’s air strikes on the Gaza Strip amid popular and official condemnation of the events. The Yemeni Parliament has demanded “an end to the aggression” and discussed playing the oil card to exert pressure on the international community.
