Calm enveloped Tahrir Square Friday morning with the downtown Cairo square seeing a reduction in crowds ahead of the demonstration called for by a number of political forces in protest against the draft constitution. The protest demands that the current document is discarded and a new constituent panel created. A number of marches in which dozens of activists took part yesterday roamed the square to mark the anniversary of the death of Rami Sharkawi, who was killed in the events of the revolution. Tahrir Square is today seeing a sharp decline in the number of campers and tents with refreshment salesmen increasing and taking over some tents near the Tahrir government complex. A number of revolutionaries are hanging up new banners reading “This is not the constitution that would make the wheel turn,” and “Go out and say No.” A sandstorm yesterday evening had damaged other banners.
