Cairo – Akram Ali
The Egyptian national television announced today that the Attorney General Chancellor, Abdel Meged Mahmoud, has resigned from his position due to health reasons.
The national television mentioned that the Egyptian presidency will issue a statement later today confirming the acceptance of the resignation. The Chancellor early this month mentioned that he had not resigned from his position and was still working according to the Judiciary Authority Law, despite President Morsi\'s decree to appoint him as the Egyptian ambassador in Vatican.
Media sources expect that Morsi will appoint the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Court of Cassation, Hossam Al Gheriany, as Attorney General to now replace Abdel Meged Mahmoud.
