Security sources in North Sinai have reported that an Egyptian Central Security officer was shot Sunday during clashes with smugglers on the border between Egypt and Israel. The officer, who the sources named as Karim Mohammed Abdel Rahman, was shot in the right upper arm as he was serving his shift near international border marker number 13 south of the Rafah border crossing. The smugglers were able to escape. The injured officer was taken to al-Arish General Hospital for emergency surgery and sources at the hospital reports that he is in a stable condition.
