Dr Mahmoud al-Zahar, a Hamas political leader, said that Hamas did not mess with Egyptian security nor did it interfere in the internal affairs of Egypt, adding that the arrest of one person - who is not convicted yet - should not be a reason to bring charges against the entire Hamas group. In a press statement, Zahar said on Tuesday that many accusations were directed to Hamas but attempts to criminalise the organisation always fail. Zahar added that there are many Palestinians in Egypt and stressed that if any member of any faction commits a crime, they should indeed be held responsible.
