Security sources in North Sinai said that strangers planted a hand grenade near an exterior wall of the sea road on the beach in the al-Masaeed region of southern al-Arish. The bomb was found inside a bag by citizen who reported seeing the bag inside a sandpit. The security forces immediately cordoned off the area and called bomb experts and the civil protection. Upon opening the bag they discovered a home made grenade which was successfully  dismantled and deactivated.  the area was then thoroughly combed by security forces to make sure there aren’t any other bombs or explosives in the area. The incident is the third of its kind in a few days where two explosive devices were found near a village tour and a private university. A bomb inside a public park was also discovered in the same region. Security sources in the Sinai region earlier reported that enemy combatants were no longer facing the armed operation in Sinai in checkpoint attacks, but were resorting to improvised explosive devices (IED) to reduce the risk of harm or capture to themselves.
