Documentary film “Emir Abdelkader,” directed by Salem Brahimi, was previewed Sunday evening in Oran in the presence of academics, cultural personalities and press representatives. Lasting 96 minutes, this documentary allowed the audience to have a comprehensive overview on the life of Emir Abdelkader (1808-1883), his struggle and resistance as well as on the foundations and dimensions of the modern Algerian State that he founded. This documentary, which combines the scientific and methodological reading of the facts, lead the audience to the journey to discover the heritage of the leader of the Algerian popular resistance, from his birth and growing up in a family attached to Muslim values and culture and Sufism  till his resistance against the French colonialism. The script of the film presents a chronology of Emir Abdelkader’s epic relating the allegiance paid to the leader of the popular resistance, his battles, victories and defeats.
