Sharjah Ruler inaugurates exhibition of late artist Hassan Sharif

H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has inaugurated on Saturday the retrospective exhibition "One Work Artist" by the late Emirati artist Hassan Sharif, which lasts until February 3, 2018.

The exhibition, organised by the Sharjah Art Foundation at Al-Merajah and Al-Serkal House, included the drawings of the cartoonist, compositional and assemblage works and semi-formal works, in addition to his works and paintings performed by the artist during the last five decades of his artistic career.

The exhibition included also a new arts displayed for the first time.

The Ruler of Sharjah was briefed about the exhibition from Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Sheikha Hoor explained its importance to the local art audience as a pioneer of contemporary art in the region and one of the most important artistic experiences held by Sharjah since Its early beginnings, his work contributed to the definition of conceptual arts, practice, contemplation and writing of the International Art Movements, and succeeded the late UAE artist Hassan Sharif to establish a technical trend contributed to deepen the current artistic movement.

The exhibition of Hassan Sharif, document the extraordinary history of the late artist from the beginning of the seventies until 2016 year of his death, through a journey of visual narrative to review his experiences of different artistic expression and creative, reflected his experience as a completely aesthetic approaches and special interaction with social components and the cultural life he lived.

Along with the Ruler of Sharjah ,the inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and President of the Emirates Publishers Association, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of Development at Sharjah Art Foundation; Brigadier General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Khalid Jassim Al Midfa Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Department Authority, Salah Salem Al Mahmoud, Director-General of the Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority, Dr. Mikael Coleman, President of the International Publishers Association,and a number of officials and artists.
