Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki arrived in Cairo Monday on an official visit to meet Egypt's senior officials.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail received Afwerki upon arrival at the Cairo International Airport.

The visit aims to boost historical relations between the two countries, promoting cooperation and coordinating efforts on issues of common concern, a statement by the Cabinet reported.
