Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo in Warsaw on Thursday will meet with visiting British Prime Minister Theresa May, the Government Information Centre (CIR) announced on Tuesday.

After the UK's June referendum in which Britons decided that their country would leave the European Union, the main task of new British PM Theresa May will be to negotiate the terms and date of Britain's withdrawal ("Brexit") from the EU.

Presenting information about Brexit to Poland's Sejm (lower house) last week, Polish PM Beata Szydlo declared that Britain would remain an important Polish ally regardless of its EU membership, and pointed out that Britain was a major trade partner for Poland with 7 percent of Polish exports going to the British market in 2015.

Szydlo also mentioned the post-Brexit situation of Poles in Britain, and said Poland's key concern was the preservation of their acquired rights. "The protection of the rights and dignity of Poles abroad, including Britain, is a priority for the Polish government", she declared
