English Oak used to create this bespoke office Once more the amazing talents of Norfolk based bespoke furniture and kitchen specialists Herringport shine through in a brilliant and diverse array of custom built, highly prestigious examples of bespoke furniture and kitchens. Creating a range of truly wonderful unique pieces, there is a hive of activity occurring within the ornate workshop of Steve Grimmer.
Fully experienced in creating an excellent portfolio of premium quality handmade furniture, Steve is a man dedicated to creating the perfect results that will long outlive their owners. Recently, Grimmer had been commissioned to create a collection of oak bedroom furniture for a client, Tony.
The oak bedroom furniture that Herringport designed and fitted for Tony worked so well that they were tasked with designing a complete home office to match.
Grimmer of Herringport Furniture stated, “Tony, who works in IT, spends a lot of time abroad and when he has to work from home wanted the comfort of home furniture with the functionality of an office,” continuing by saying, “the bedroom design was carried over to include fluted grooves on the legs, solid oak dovetailed drawers on soft close runners and tall cupboards designed like the wardrobes but able to hide filing cabinets.”
Herringport, being bespoke furniture makers are able to design and build to any design/requirements and immediately began the planning of the oak office layout for the client. One feature that reflects the skill and professionalism of Herringport was the strength of each static and moveable component such as drawers that were fitted that are designed to be able to work with weights up to 60 kg placed in them, which in an office environment is essential.
The 40mm thick oak worktops were drilled and fitted with pop-up electric sockets to enable the computers to be positioned where needed. The wall cupboards were made deeper than normal to allow for large office files to be kept and easily accessed.
All the wood used was English Oak sourced locally to Herringport workshops, the finish applied was a polish with a 20% gloss level which, matching the clients request. This is enough to offer protection but without the high shine of polyurethane. On commenting about the level of the finish, Steve also mentioned that “clients can select any one of a range of finishes”, as his extensive knowledge of every aspect of furniture making ensures that the results match the exact preferences of the customer.
