Youth protest in Mauritania for unemplyment Nouakchott – Mohammad Sharif Abeidy Mauritania’s unemployment rate has reached 30 percent, making it the third highest unemployment rate among all Arab countries, according to data issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Djibouti came first among all Arab countries, reaching 59 percent. Yemen came after Djibouti with 35 percent and Sudan 18.7 percent. Data also indicated that Iraq is in fifth place, followed by Bahrain and Oman with unemployment rates reaching 18 percent and 15 percent respectively.
Tunisia comes eighth with an unemployment rate of 13.3 per cent, followed by Libya, which reached 13 per cent. The unemployment rate in United Arab Emirates reached 12.7 percent. Jordan ranked eleventh in the Arab list at 11.9 percent, and the unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia reached 10.8 percent followed by Algeria which ranked the twelfth country with statistics reaching 10 percent.
The bottom three in the Arab countries with the lowest unemployment rates is as follows: Syria, Kuwait and Qatar where the unemployment rates reached 9.2 percent, 1.5 percent and 0.5 percent respectively.
