Minister of Culture, Amine Sbihi

The Ministry of Culture announced at the International Donors’ Conference on Safeguarding Endangered Cultural Heritage on March 20 that they will contribute USD 1.5 million towards measures to preserve and protect endangered cultural heritage.

At the event, the Minister of Culture, Amine Sbihi, welcomed the launch of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Zones(ALIPH).

He added that, on great instructions of the King Mohammed VI, Morocco is pleased to contribute on this project, which will implement a shelter network to protect endangered heritage in conflict zones.

Sbihi explained that this situation in many countries is resulted on the expanding of illicit trafficking in cultural properties exercised by some criminal groups, adding that this program is an urgent and practical measure in line with the initiatives carried out by the UNESCO.

France and the United Arab Emirates inaugurated ALIPH on the basis of a public-private collaboration on March 3 in Geneva.
