Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Farid Rwandzi

Under the direction of the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Farid Rwandzi, and in cooperation between the Department of Public Cultural Relations and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Beirut, the Assistant Director General of the Department of Cultural Relations, Dr. Ali Oweid received 25 works of art from the Iraqi artist Salam Omar.
 
The National Museum of Modern Art in the Ministry of Culture witnessed the process of handing over works of glass boxes, which included a collection of interactive works by Salam Omar, representing the history of the book in Iraq from Sumer and Babylon to the Islamic civilization and the conquest of the Mongols of Baghdad until the emergence of ISIS organization.

The ceremony was held in the Ministry of Culture building between the two departments of public cultural relations represented by Dr. Ali Owaid and plastic arts represented by its director Dr. Shafiq al-Mahdi, in the presence of the director of the National Museum of Modern Art Ali al-Dulaimi and a number of Iraqi plastic artists.
 
Dr. Shafiq al-Mahdi thanked the artist Salam Omar, expressing his appreciation for the high symbolism carried by the work that reflects the stages of the book that passed through Iraq. He added that the initiative of the Minister of Culture was generous in embracing this creativity, stressing the invitation of artist Salam Omar to hold an exhibition in Baghdad.

It is worth mentioning that the artist Salam Omar is one of the most important Iraqi artists living in Beirut, and all his activities and actions reflect the suffering of Iraq and its people.
