Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has stressed the importance of a visit by Chinese president Xi Jinping to Egypt in April.
China is a strong supporter of Arab and Palestinian issues, Shoukry told MENA on Saturday.
Beijing, he added, clearly understands Egypt's need to achieve economic development.
Shoukry touched upon President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to China in December and called it "successful".
He also talked about ministerial contacts between the two sides to outline a cooperation program and boost bilateral relations.
Shoukry said Beijing is willing to contribute to development plans in Egypt.
It is eyeing business opportunities in Egypt as part of efforts to expand its overseas investments, Shoukry said.
China will be benefiting from Egypt's location, the top diplomat said, noting that Egypt is a gate to the Arab and African markets.
The Egyptian people and government are looking forward to Xi's visit, Shoukry said, noting that such top-profile visits are meant to enhance bilateral relations.
Shoukry said that during Xi's visit, Egypt and China will follow up the implementation of agreements reached when Sisi was in Beijing.
