Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al Sisi revealed that he discussed the ways to develop the strategic relations during his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, stressing Egypt’s critical role in the fight against terrorism. He underlined the cooperation between the two countries in different economic, social and cultural fields. He added, “Merkel’s visit comes after a large number of shifts and events witnessed in the country during the recent years.”
The Egyptian president added, during a press conference with the German chancellor, the country took its ways to a promising future, stressing his aspiration to a strong support from the other partners, including Germany. He added, “We look forward that the visit will be a turning point for more future cooperation between the two countries.”
Regarding the Libyan crisis, The Egyptian president stressed the need for achieving political solution to keep the integrity of the Libyan territories. He added, “We aim to involve the Libyan parties in any political process aiming to end the current conflict witnessed in the country. We should give the priority to containment the armed group operating in the country during the coming period.”
He also said that they discussed the refugees’ crisis and briefed the German chancellor on the Egyptian efforts during the recent years to achieve political stability. He added the regional crises need to achieve accordance to be resolved, including the Syrian crisis, saying that Egypt refuses the foreign interference in the internal affairs of the regional countries. He added that the country does not accept any role for the armed groups in these countries, expressing his support for the national armies.
He added, “If the European countries faced the same threats Egypt faced during the recent 40 months, they would adopt a very tough reaction. The Egyptian authorities have not used the force except in the cases in which the others used the weapons.”
On her hand, German Chancellor Angela Merkel praised Egypt’s role in the regional issues, describing it as a critical role. She added that she discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries during her meeting with the Egyptian president. She expressed her pleasure of the power stations project executed by German company of Siemens.
She expressed her support for the Egyptian efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis, stressing her keenness to work with Egypt in this regard. She stressed the need for cooperating to confront the terrorist threat which faces not only the Middle East but also the European countries.
