Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj

The Egyptian government announced the success of the meeting that gathered between Libya’s international-recognized Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj, military leader, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and Speaker of Libya’s parliament Okila Saleh, held in Cairo Tuesday to bridge the gap of difference among the Libyan conflicting parties.

According to Egypt’s military spokesperson Tamer Al Refaei, the meeting was held under sponsorship of Egypt’s military Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazi and was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to discuss the ways to resolve the Libyan crisis.

The meeting led to an agreement among the conflicting parties to hold parliamentary and presidential elections before February 2018. The agreement included the formation of a 15-member committee to discuss the controversial issues and to find compromises over them to pave the way for referring them to Libyan parliament.

According to the Egyptian military statement, Libya’s House of Representatives will hold constitutional amendments in the framework of efforts exerted to resolve the pending issues.
