United Kingdom has stepped up airport security measures following US officials reported that Al-Qaeda has developed bombs could be smuggled onto airliners. 

US and European authorities have held talks on tightening security measures on electronic devices and shoes of passengers boarding direct flights to the United States. 

US authorities requested tougher airport security measures on nonstop flight to the United States amid fears that bomb makers, Al-Nusra Front of Al-Qaeda in Syria and Al-Qaeda operating in the Arabian Peninsula, have been working together to develop explosives that cannot be detected by existing airport security system.
