Jazeera Airways announced that the number of its flown passengers had increased by 11 percent in May 2015, compared to the same period last year.

The increase of flown passengers in May follows consecutive hikes in March 2015, and April 2015, which were up three percent and 14 percent respectively from same respective months last year, said the company in its May 2015 Operational Performance Report released on Monday.

Jazeera Airways issues its Operational Performance Report on a monthly basis. The Report is based on official figures and statistics from Kuwait's Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA). On routes serving Istanbul, Beirut and Amman, Jazeera Airways saw a 12 percent increase in flown passengers from May 2014. The increase was driven by a strong continued demand for Istanbul and Amman.

Flown passengers also increased on routes serving Egypt by 16 percent from May 2014, despite Jazeera Airways serving five Egyptian cities during the month, compared to six cities in May 2014.

The decrease in number of served cities follows the temporary closure of Assiut International Airport for renovations since June 2014. On routes serving the Gulf cities of Dubai, Bahrain, Jeddah and Riyadh, Jazeera Airways saw a seven percent increase in flown passengers, compared to May 2014.
